Writing Our Legacy is an unincorporated association whose aim is to raise awareness of the contributions of Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) writers, poets, playwrights and authors born, living or connected to Sussex set up in April 2012. The group got its start as the literature programme for Brighton & Hove Black History Month in 2010 & 2011 and continues to support Black History Month in October and beyond.'Welcome to this week's events WRITING OUR LEGACY: 22-28 October 2012

This week, we bring you events from the wider Black History Month family, including Legacy Film Festival, which takes place in Brighton all this weekend - don't miss out. We also give you details of 2 great writing workshops aimed at writers of all experiences - we've paired up with New Writing South to offer both workshops at a special £30 - bargain!

You'll also find out more about 2 fantastic family friendly all day events taking place this November, both free - Black History Month Family Day at Hove Town Hall (4 November) and Day of the Dead Latin festival at Brighton Dome and Museum (17 November). Last but not least, we finally unveil our Live Lit Residency - called INCUBATE - which gives 3 Sussex authors the chance to take their writing from page-to-stage. Read on to find out more. '
