John Sailsman

John Sailsman is a writer, actor and director.  He is also the founder and Artist Director of Unity Arts Music & Multi Media, which he established in 2006.

John studied Drama and Cultural studies at Wolverhampton Polytechnic emerging with a B.A Hons Degree in Humanities.  His professional acting career began in 1984 and includes performances at the Edinburgh Festival, working with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the acclaimed Black Mime Theatre Company.  John took a hiatus from the theatre in 1995 but continued writing.


Whilst working extensively within the Race Relations Industry John became the Director of the Oxfordshire Racial Equality Council before becoming a Diversity manager for Heatherwood Hospital and the Slough Primary Care Trust.  John has published two novels and has written and directed a number of plays.  He has amplified his curriculum vitae with varying degrees of youth and community work and as a diversity trainer.  In 2006 John returned to his chosen profession and is now the Artistic Director of Unity Arts, a Theatre company based in Reading and is also an independent consultant.  In 2008 he was elected onto the South East Regional Arts council.
